In November, you voted to approve 7 new deacons in our church body. At the beginning of December, we will ordain (set aside) them to this ministry of servant leadership. You have heard me (and others) say that deacons in our church DO NOT make administrative decisions, but serve and fill practical needs. Do not let this distinction convince you that this role is unimportant. In many ways, deacons set the unofficial temperament of a church. As their examples are owned by the church body, our shared ministry is shaped for the days ahead.
The type of people you all have approved to serve reflects the characteristics that we value in our ministry. As we move forward into 2026, I’m excited for the spirit of love, humility, service, and faithfulness we have affirmed!
When Dr. Julio Guarneri, executive director of our Texas Baptists convention was with us, he recognized our shared priority of being a GC2 (great commandment, great commission) church. As we prepare to celebrate Christmas with family, church family, friends, employers/employees, etc., what would it look like for you to do so in an effort to love God and others, and make disciples?
We’ll begin a Christmas series on Nov. 30th called “Promises Fulfilled: Christmas Connections to Prophecy.” During this time, anyone you invite will hear a bit about how what we celebrate this time of year is the key to understanding the hope of the whole Bible!
Can’t wait to worship with you!
Pastor Matt
