Growing Pains

This month we’ll continue our “Growing Pains” series on Sunday mornings. I know some of these messages have been more targeted than normal, but growth requires being specific about those issues where we all need work. Speaking of growth, you may have noticed that your bulletin has a shorter summary of our mission on the bottom. Not because we are changing our mission, or because our statement needs to be re-written. But simply because I want a short-hand way of reminding us of what our top priorities are.
Our mission statement singles out service, evangelism, and discipleship as key. Our motto paraphrases Jesus’ response when he is questioned about the greatest commandment: loving God, loving others. For the sake of simplicity and continuity with our motto, I define the key actions of our mission like this:
Service – showing God’s love.
Evangelism – sharing God’s love.
Discipleship – growing in God’s love.
As we continue to emphasize growth in our sermon series, what steps are you taking to grow in your relationship with the Lord this year? Are you a part of a Bible study group? Are you reading through the Bible? Are you making prayer a priority? Are you planning on going to one of our retreats, or even our summer mission trip?
Our seasons in life change, but we never stop growing in the Lord!
