Our church lost two very special people this past month. While we’ll miss Shannon Jenkins and Briley Mitchell, we are grateful for the faith they had in Jesus which continues to encourage us as we “run with perseverance the race marked out for us” (Heb 12:1b). Continue to pray for their families in the days ahead.
Sunday mornings in February will continue our series in Joshua, focusing on faith as a journey. If you know people who are at the beginning of theirs, or have not yet begun a faith journey, I believe this is an excellent series to invite or share with them via Facebook, etc.!
Two dates to note in regard to this year’s Honduras trip are January 21st, and February 11th. On the January date, we’ll have a short interest meeting immediately after worship and share basic information about the trip (dates, cost, fundraising, etc.). On the February date, we will have an extended training in the activity building following worship (lunch included) led by personnel from 61 Isaiah in Honduras. This training is open to ALL, whether you are certain you are going, or not. Look for a sign-up sheet on the back table this Sunday.
Our missions committee has committed to sponsor a 4th grade student named Keyla in obtaining her education (through 12th grade) at Abundant Life Christian School (ALCS) in Honduras. Keyla’s mother recently passed away, causing her to lose her scholarship to attend school. She is the granddaughter of Pastor Manuel Mateo, who serves at the Baptist church in San Isidro, which is our church partner that we minister alongside during trips.
Please pray for all these continued efforts, and consider joining us for our third trip to Honduras!
Blessings,
Pastor Matt
